Dystopia Now: A Public Reading with Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah

  • Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) 805 East Genesee Street Syracuse, NY, 13210 United States (map)

In this interactive fiction reading, National Book Award finalist Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah reads from his debut novel, Chain Gang All-Stars. Chain-Gang All-Stars is a kaleidoscopic, excoriating look at the American prison system’s alliance of systemic racism, unchecked capitalism, and mass incarceration, and a clear-eyed reckoning with what freedom in this country really means. Adjei-Brenyah will discuss how he draws upon and criticizes real-world systems within his own fiction, and will ask audience members to imagine different worlds through their own stories
